Rachel Pointer

Biographical Information

Born and raised in Nebraska, Rachel has spent over 28 years supporting system-impacted children and families, and 14 years in working in anti-violence and anti-trafficking specifically. Rachel has earned her Bachelor of Science in Youth Education with emphasis on Psychology, and her Master of Arts in Adult Education with emphasis on Counseling and Curriculum Development. Rachel has dedicated herself to continuing education and has earned multiple coaching certifications that include multiple Master Coaching certificates. Rachel is an ordained minister in good standing and has officiated marriage and end of life ceremonies.

Rachel is a survivor of childhood sexual exploitation, abuse and neglect, sexual assault, suicide, addiction, and domestic violence. Rachel’s work leading anti-trafficking efforts has earned her national recognition as an authority in the field. Rachel co-founded and led a volunteer-run anti-trafficking organization that was instrumental in passing Nebraska’s first anti-trafficking legislation and supporting public awareness campaigns. Rachel has served on numerous community boards and provided support to anti-trafficking programs and grants. Rachel also co-founded an online survivor support community. Rachel supports and partners with organizations and agencies to raise awareness, provide legislative insights and influence, organize teams and events, and provide coaching, training, and support to survivor leaders and others in the field.

Rachel is married with one child, and several siblings who consider her a parent. Rachel enjoys many hobbies, including gardening, painting, reading, photography, and writing. In addition to her broader anti-trafficking work, Rachel runs an education program for her child, provides virtual educational support to several parents who have experienced exploitation, and creates and facilitates reflective writing mindfulness programs.

Rachel has been nationally recognized for her work in anti-trafficking and with system impacted families. Rachel co-hosted a podcast called The VanderPointe, which centered tough conversations about anti-trafficking. Rachel has published a book The Truths We Posted a workbook It Takes Work: Burning Out, Recovering, and Beginning to Grow , a Daily Practice Journal, a writing journey workbook #WriteWithMe and most recently co-authored the writing journey workbook WriteTogether. Rachel is currently actively working to complete several additional works for publication.

Rachel and her family now reside in Kentucky. Rachel continues to serve in many capacities including consultation, resilience coaching, and facilitation and influence anti-trafficking work in the US and around the world.
